INSTALLATIONS

2007 “Migratory Symphony”, was created upon an invitation by Ecume and the Municipality of two districts of the city of Marseilles to create a site specific installation. The artist invited 100 school students to each interview their parents and grandparents about the migratory history of their family. Where did their family come from? When and how did their family arrive to Marseilles? Music stands carried the stories the students collected.

2006 "Where are they," was commissioned by The Committee of Families of the Kidnapped and Disappeared in Lebanon to commemorate thirty one years after the start of the Lebanese war (1975-2006). More than 3000 names, 400 photograhs, 400 large black and white balloons, acetate sheets, and plastic wrapping. Dome City Center, downtown Beirut.

2004 “Plastic Memory Containers,” 100 white plastic buckets filled with 3000 crumpled balls of paper with the following text repeated indefinitely on them: “How meaningful is it to have a 6000-year old history when we have no memory of our recent past? Byblos is a 6000 year-old city where people feel very proud of their cultural heritage, yet alienated from their recent history, more specifically the memory of the recent war. Organized by Sandra Dagher of Espace SD.

2004 "Sand," 450 glasses filled with sand, 3.70 m x 3.70 m
Palais Kheiredinne, Biennale de Tunis, April and May 2004.
Desertification is the growth of the desert at the expense of fertile land, thus creating shortages of drinkable water.

2003 "Atazakkar, Fractions of Memory", Martyrs' Square, 20 tons of newspaper and 150 texts, 70 m x 40 m, Beirut, July and August 2003.
A number of texts were received in response to the question published in three Beirut newspapers and posted on the internet: "Do you have a memory of daily life in downtown Beirut before the war?" The installation is about recovered memory but also about lost memory. Recovered space and lost space. Organized by Amal Traboulsi of Galerie Epreuve d'Artiste.

2001 "Promenade in your Dreams," 20 m x 30 m, 1730 texts on wooden blocks, 50 chairs. May 2001, International College, Beirut.
Students, teachers, and administrators of the International College in Beirut were invited to write or draw the school of their dreams on one page. One thousand seven hundred and thirty
submissions were collected and installed in the open-air amphitheater of the school. Organized by Antoine Boulad of International College.
